On July 14, 2019, Cameroon secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Kenya's Malkia Strikers in the Women's Africa Nations Championship final, held in Cairo, Egypt.

The match saw Cameroon emerge victorious with a score of 25-17, 27-25, 25-23, 23-25, securing their title and denying Kenya's Malkia Strikers an unprecedented 10th African title.

Kenya's Malkia Strikers had been on a quest for their 10th African title, but Cameroon's determination and skill ultimately led to their defeat.

Earlier in the tournament, Kenya had beaten Morocco and Botswana in the group stages before advancing to the semis, where they defeated Senegal in straight sets.

Cameroon, on the other hand, had been seeking revenge after losing to Kenya in the final group B match. Their victory marked a significant moment in the tournament, as they will now represent Africa at the bi-annual FIVB World Cup in Japan later in October.

Kenya's Malkia Strikers, however, will have to wait for the Intercontinental Olympic Qualifiers (ICQT) to compete in international volleyball.

Before then, the team will focus on defending their African Games title in Morocco later in the year.
