Published on July 14, 2019, Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba has expressed interest in running for the country's highest office in the 2022 general elections.

As the leader of the Labour Party, Namwamba believes that the Luhya community deserves a strong champion who can fight for their interests.

He has called on Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula to push for the NASA flag-bearer position in the August 8 polls.

Namwamba is confident that the Western Kenya region, with its large number of registered voters, is ready to front a formidable presidential candidate.

He has announced his intention to contest for the presidency in 2022 and is preparing to defend his seat in the August 8 polls through the Labour Party of Kenya (LPK) ticket.
