On July 14, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in Kilifi County, where a police officer took his own life in a suspected domestic dispute.
According to County Police Commandant Patrick Okeri, the officer, identified as Constable Kelvin Kipkemoi, shot himself at around 5:30am after finishing his night shift duty at Kizurini Police station in Kaloleni, Kilifi County.
Okeri stated that the officer was believed to have been experiencing domestic issues with his wife, which may have led to the tragic event.
However, investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the officer's decision to commit suicide.
This incident comes just two months after a similar incident in Likoni, where Deputy OCS Joab Omondi shot himself dead after killing a woman.
