Fourteen years after the 2007-08 post-election violence, Simon Angoya, a 52-year-old father of five from Vihiga, is still recovering from the trauma he endured.

Angoya's ordeal began when he was left homeless and jobless in Nakuru, a city that was ravaged by the violence.

'It was total hell,' Angoya recalls, reflecting on the experience that has left him with deep emotional scars.

As he looks back, Angoya warns Kenyans to be cautious of politicians who incite violence, only to be protected when the chaos erupts.
