Kenyan motorists are set to face higher fuel costs after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced a price hike for petrol on Sunday, July 14, 2019.

The price of petrol has increased by KSh 0.29 per liter, with a liter now retailing at KSh 115.39. This change is attributed to a decrease in the average landed cost of imported super petrol, which dropped by 1.83% from KSh 55,469.46 per cubic metre in May 2019 to KSh 54,384.37, according to EPRA.

However, relief is in store for diesel and kerosene users, whose prices have decreased by KSh 0.88 and KSh 2.31 respectively. A liter of diesel will now cost KSh 103.88, while kerosene will be sold at KSh 101.97.

The new prices will vary across different regions, with petrol selling at KSh 115.39 in Nairobi, KSh 115.86 in Nakuru, and KSh 112.74 in Mombasa.

EPRA announced the new fuel prices on their Twitter account, stating that the changes are a result of the decrease in the average landed cost of imported super petrol.
