On April 2, 2022, a rowdy mob stoned ODM leader Raila Odinga's helicopter in Kabenes, Uasin Gishu, during a visit to the area.
According to Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, the mob was paid to cause chaos, as he revealed in a national television interview.
Junet stated that the group had held a rally in Iten, which is believed to be Deputy President William Ruto's stronghold, but the crowd's behavior was uncontrollable.
Despite the commotion, Raila Odinga managed to calm the crowd and addressed the citizens before proceeding to the burial of Men's Conference Chairman Jackson Kibor in Kabenes Farm.
Junet alleged that Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and Soi MP Caleb Kositanyi were behind the orchestrated chaos, stating that their behavior during the ceremony was suspicious.
Junet further claimed that Mandago's speech condemning the act was an act of guilt, and that intelligence suggested the two were involved in the incident.
He added that the act was below the belt and only done by someone who sensed defeat.
