Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has expressed concern over the resurgence of the 2007/2008 Kiambaa church incident, which claimed several lives, as politicians seek to gain political mileage ahead of the 2022 general election.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke on July 14, 2019, Kabogo criticized politicians who are reviving the incident to gain political attention, saying it is insensitive to the families who lost loved ones in the tragedy.

"I am shocked by the direction this country is taking. It is filled with politicians who are full of hatred and envy. Some of them have even gone back to reviving the Kiambaa church incident without considering the pain that families went through," Kabogo said.

He urged politicians to focus on the country's development rather than engaging in early electioneering.

"This is not the time for campaigning, it is time for work and ensuring that you serve the citizen who will vote for you. Let us put our hands together and serve the people properly," Kabogo added.
