Kenya's Nakuru is poised to join the ranks of Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu as the country's fourth city in the next three months.
According to sources, Governor Lee Kinyanjui has been instrumental in pushing for the upgrade, citing the county's readiness to take on the new status.
As part of the preparations, Governor Kinyanjui has already appointed new leaders to the county's boards in April this year, following consultations with the county assembly and the Senate.
He has also launched several projects, including a new infrastructure development that aims to give Nakuru a modern and attractive look.
It is reported that the county government received KSh 1 billion from a global bank to fund the development of Nakuru.
