On July 13, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga joined in the fun at the traditional wedding ceremony of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo.

The President, dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, swayed to the rhythm of local tunes, while Raila stuck to his signature stiff dancing style, dressed in a Kaunda suit.

Other notable guests at the ceremony included Sports CS Amina Mohamed, Transport CS James Macharia, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho, and Senate Minority Leader James Orengo.

Waiguru and Waiganjo had organized an elaborate traditional wedding ceremony, known as a ngurario, at Kamugumo Primary School in Ngariama Ward, Gichugu Constituency.

Guests began to arrive at the venue at around 10:30am, with seating arranged inside a canopy tent decorated with silk sashes and traditional pots as centrepieces.

Waiguru arrived at the venue a few minutes before 4pm, and the ceremony was attended by several high-profile guests, including Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina and Youth and Gender Affair CAS Rachel Shebesh.

However, Deputy President William Ruto was noticeably absent, as he was on tour in Tharaka Nithi County at the time.
