On July 13, 2019, Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru tied the knot in a traditional wedding ceremony at Kiamugumo Primary school. The event was a grand affair, with all shades of brown and orange filling the playground.
Her bridal party escorted her to the tented area, where a huge white dome housed the grand festivities. Her groom had arrived a few hours earlier, setting the stage for the joyous occasion.
As part of the traditional ceremony, the bride and groom participated in the 'cutting of the kiande', a significant ritual in the wedding ceremony. The 'kiande' is the right 'arm' of a roast goat, which the groom cuts while the bride holds. The groom then feeds the bride and himself from the piece.
Other notable guests in attendance included Miss World Kenya CEO Terry Muigai and Sabina Chege, who added to the glamour and elegance of the occasion.
