Uhuru Kenyatta Urges Public Servants to Put Country First ¶
President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged public servants, including doctors, to put the needs of Kenyans first, despite the challenges of low salaries.
Speaking at the funeral of businessman Karanja Kabage in Nairobi on July 12, 2019, Uhuru Kenyatta emphasized the importance of public servants prioritizing the needs of Kenyans.
He specifically called on doctors to stop being complacent about their salaries and to focus on delivering quality services to Kenyans.
"If you are a doctor, do not just wait for your salary and refuse to work without being paid," Uhuru Kenyatta said. "Remember, the life of your fellow Kenyan is more important than what you are paid."
Uhuru Kenyatta also praised Kabage, who was 70 years old, for his dedication to his work and his commitment to improving the lives of Kenyans through his business ventures.
He noted that Kabage believed in equality and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Kenyans, regardless of their social status.
"He said there was no need for different health insurance for the rich and the poor," Uhuru Kenyatta said. "This meant that, to him, health insurance was not just a business, but also a way to improve the lives of Kenyans."
Uhuru Kenyatta urged young people to emulate Kabage's example and to prioritize the needs of Kenyans over their own interests.
