Residents of Kisumu are living in fear as top police officers are accused of colluding with notorious gangs, including the Otek Team and China Squad, who are allegedly extorting money from politicians and businessmen.

The gangs, led by Oliver Veti and Munir Kirunda, have been linked to a wave of criminal activities in the region, including break-ins and extortion.

According to eyewitnesses, the gangs have been targeting politicians and businessmen, demanding protection fees and extorting money from them.

Investigations by Weekly Citizen have revealed that the gangs are being sponsored by an MCA who has been using them as guns for hire in terrorizing members of the public.

Residents are now calling on the Inspector General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai, the Interior cabinet secretary, Fred Matiang'i, and the DCI, George Kinoti, to intervene and launch investigations into the matter.

They are also demanding that the rogue police officers be transferred or face demonstrations from the public.
