July 13, 2019 - Migori county government has taken a bold step in empowering its youth by appointing award-winning singer Akothee to oversee youth empowerment activities in the county.

Akothee, a Migori County native, has been tasked with organizing the Migori County Empowerment Festival (MCEF) 2019, a three-day event that will provide a platform for the county's youth to showcase their talents, ideas, and creative processes.

The festival, which will take place before December 2019, will include a medical camp, agricultural talks, women empowerment, corporate product showcase, and full-blown entertainment and artiste performance.

Akothee expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, 'Migori county has the best natural resources that need to be showcased to attract investors both from within the country and foreigners.' She added, 'It's high time we motivate and activate our people to take full advantage of the existing natural resources other than complaining and blaming the government.'

During the announcement, Migori county boss Governor Okoth Obado, comedian Owago Onyiro, and Akothee's manager Nelly Oaks were present.

Akothee has also partnered with Peptang to activate Awendo market, where she has been doing roadshows, cooking for locals, entertaining them, and advertising the product.
