On July 13, 2019, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru tied the knot with her long-time fiancé, city lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo, in a traditional wedding at Kiamugumo Primary school.

The highly anticipated event drew a list of high-profile guests, including President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, with an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 people in attendance.

Waiganjo, who was previously married to Lorna Seneiya, a Nairobi-based journalist, paid Waiguru's bride price on February 16th and has three children with the journalist.

Waiganjo has represented Waiguru in several court cases, including an election petition filed by Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua.

According to Waiganjo, guests without invitation cards would not be turned away but may face difficulties securing a seat.

Waiguru described the event as private, focusing on exchanging vows and walking down the aisle.

However, the wedding ceremony was notable for the absence of Kirinyaga Women Representative Wangui Ngirici, who has been at odds with Waiguru over political differences.
