Published on July 13, 2019, the opposition party's declaration comes as a bold challenge to President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration.
On December 17, 2017, National Super Alliance (Nasa) luminaries met in Kilifi and reaffirmed their commitment to swearing in Raila Odinga as President.
Siaya Senator James Orengo stated, 'They say we cannot swear in Raila, but we are telling them we will bring forward the plan to do so soon.'
ODM chief executive director Oduor Ongwen echoed Orengo's sentiments, saying, 'We will swear him in, whether they like it or not. We will do it at a national gathering where he will take the reins of power immediately.'
Raila Odinga reiterated that he was validly elected on August 8, 2017, and that nobody would stop him from taking the oath of office.
Initially, the opposition had planned to swear in Odinga on December 12, 2017, but later postponed the plans for early next year.
