On July 13, 2019, Anne Mumbi, the Kirinyaga governor, and her fiancé Kamotho Waiganjo will embark on a new journey together as they exchange vows in a traditional wedding.

The couple, who have been best friends and partners for 10 years, have chosen to make their wedding a public event, inviting a crowd of about 4,000 people to witness their union.

According to Kamotho, the large guest list is a deliberate choice, meant to show that their love is strong and they have nothing to hide. The couple has faced criticism in the past for their public displays of affection, but they are determined to prove that their love is genuine.

As they prepare for their big day, questions have been raised about how Anne's marriage will affect her political ambitions. Kamotho has come to her defence, saying that male politicians marry all the time without it being a big deal.

Anne has assured that she will continue to discharge her duties as governor regardless of where she is married. She is excited about her wedding and the numerous possibilities that the marriage holds.

The couple has undergone all the rites set by Kikuyu traditions, including the payment of dowry, which Kamotho has refused to reveal, saying that dowry does not tell a woman's worth.
