On June 2, 2019, Bandari FC goalkeepers Shaban Kenga and Faruk Shikhalo were in action during the SportPesa Shield championship match against Kariobangi Sharks at Kasarani Stadium.

Fast forward to the 2019 Cecafa Kagame Cup, where Bandari FC, the 2019 SportPesa Shield champions, were eliminated without a win.

They were knocked out by Azam, the holders, who frustrated them to a 0-0 draw in a decisive Group B match at Huye Stadium, Butare, on an unspecified date.

Bandari FC required a win to progress to the quarter-finals, but their efforts were in vain.

They had drawn their opening two fixtures, a 1-1 draw against Ugandan champions KCCA and a 2-2 draw against hosts Mukura.

Despite their best efforts, Bandari FC failed to score against Azam, with Idd Ally's early shot being denied by goalkeeper Faruk Shikhalo.

Shikhalo also came to Bandari's rescue when he came off his line to stop Ally following Felly Mulumba's defensive blunder.

Wycliffe Ochomo thought he had broken the deadlock for Bandari FC, but his 24th-minute powerful header hit the post from Fred Nkata's brilliant delivery.

Bandari FC intensified their attack, but Azam's goalkeeper Razak Abalora made a fantastic save from Obrey Chola's shot.
