On July 12, 2019, Nyakach MP Joshua Aduma was released on Ksh. 3 million cash bail.
Appearing before Milimani Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi, Aduma denied all charges levelled against him, including conspiracy to defraud Nairobi City Council and abuse of office.
The MP was arrested on Thursday by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers while in Kisumu.
He is accused of sanctioning irregular payment of Ksh. 68 million when he was the Director of Legal Affairs at City Hall.
During the hearing, Aduma filed an application seeking to have the bail or bond terms reviewed, citing that he does not hold a passport.
The prosecution refuted his claims, stating that Aduma must provide a letter from the Immigration Department confirming the same.
The Immigration Department has been ordered to bar the accused from traveling outside the country without a court order.
