On July 12, 2019, a Nairobi magistrate court issued a warrant of arrest for Kenyan rugby player Alex Olaba, who failed to appear in court for the second time to face judgment over rape allegations.

Olaba and his teammate Frank Wanyama were accused of raping musician Wendy Kemunto in February 2018 at Highrise Estate in Nairobi County.

The court initially set the judgment for Thursday but was forced to postpone it to Friday after Olaba failed to show up. On Friday, Wanyama appeared in court, but Olaba was a no-show, prompting Justice Martha Mutuku to issue the arrest warrant.

Since the matter was taken to court, Olaba and Wanyama have been unable to play for the national team, with the Kenya Rugby Union deciding against their inclusion until the case is resolved.
