Sportpesa Accuses Betting Licensing Board of Business Interference ¶
Published on July 12, 2019
Sportpesa, a leading betting company in Kenya, has accused the Betting Licensing Board (BLCB) of interfering with its business operations.
The company claims that the BLCB's decision to revoke the licenses of 27 betting companies, including Sportpesa, is a deliberate attempt to disrupt its business.
According to Sportpesa, the BLCB's actions are contrary to the court's orders and are intended to undermine the company's operations.
"This is just one of the many schemes by BLCB to break the spirit of businesses. This emergency measure taken by the board may lead to harm in this business and thus affect the social and economic agenda in the country," Sportpesa said in a statement.
However, the BLCB has denied the allegations, stating that the companies failed to meet their obligations and pay taxes.
Sportpesa has assured its customers that it will do everything possible to ensure that its paybill numbers are restored.
The company has also accused the BLCB of trying to undermine its operations and has vowed to continue operating despite the challenges.
