On July 12, 2019, a massive fire swept through Nairobi's Pangani area, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
More than 50 houses were reduced to ashes in the inferno, which broke out at 11PM, forcing over 50 families to spend the night in the cold.
According to Bernard Mutua, the owner of the houses, the fire was caused by a candle that was left burning in one of the dwellings.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, which took hours to bring under control.
The victims are now appealing for help from their area leaders to rebuild their homes and get back on their feet.
