On Thursday, July 11, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in Mwiyogo village, Tigithi ward, Laikipia County, where a 47-year-old man allegedly killed his 25-year-old pregnant wife and three-year-old son.
According to police reports, Mr. James Ndung'u, allegedly committed the heinous crime due to domestic wrangles.
Laikipia county police boss, Maxwel Nyaema, confirmed the incident and stated that Mr. Ndung'u later attempted to commit suicide by drinking a pesticide.
The bodies of the victims were removed to the mortuary by police officers from the nearby Pabu Police Post.
Mr. Nyaema stated that the deceased had a deep cut on the forehead and a slit on the neck, and that investigations have been launched to gather more information.
Area resident, Mr. Simon Ndirangu, reported that Ms. Njoki was expecting to deliver a child next month but was brutally murdered by her husband on Thursday at around 2am.
Locals were angered by the incident but found Mr. Ndung'u in a critical condition, vomiting, and were rushed to Lamuria health center.
