On July 5, 2019, tragedy struck when Karanja Kabage, a prominent city lawyer and businessman, lost his life in a car accident along the Southern Bypass in Nairobi.
According to eyewitnesses, Kabage was driving a Land Cruiser from the Ole Sereni direction towards Kikuyu when the vehicle veered off the road, slowed down, and appeared to be making a U-turn before hitting the pavement.
Police handling the case reported that early investigations suggested Kabage might have suffered a heart attack while driving.
A team sent to assess the scene collected vomit from the car, which has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding Kabage's death.
On July 12, 2019, Kabage's family and friends gathered in Nakuru to give him a final sendoff, with notable attendees including Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui and Deputy President William Ruto.
