July 12, 2019 - Kenya Airways, in collaboration with its subsidiary Jambojet and Flight Safety International, has signed a tripartite agreement to enhance aviation safety in Africa.

The agreement involves Flight Safety International providing a Dash 8 Q400 simulator to support the training of Kenya Airways' cockpit crew and maintenance teams.

According to Sebastian Mikosz, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Airways, the agreement is a step forward in building the capacity of their training programs and cementing their focus on safety and quality.

"The number of Q400s in Africa is growing, with a limited number of simulators to support the training. The estimated number of Q400 aircraft in Africa is over a hundred (100) being served by only three (3) simulators," Mikosz said.

Flight Safety International is the leading provider of Q400 simulators that offer unmatched realism, delivering world-class aviation training services for pilots, technicians, flight attendants, and dispatchers.

Patrick Coulter, Director - Business Development, Commercial Training and Simulation at Flight Safety International, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, "We have a large footprint across the globe and we are excited about having our second partnership in Africa. It is an excellent opportunity for us to extend our expertise in the region as we continue facilitating training through provision of high quality simulators."

Kenya Airways and Jambojet are looking forward to leveraging on Flight Safety International's wealth of experience to continue improving safety in Africa's aviation.

As part of its fleet expansion strategy, Jambojet plans to increase its fleet of Q400 aircraft from five to fifteen by 2021.
