Published on July 12, 2019, Garissa Deputy Governor Abdi Dagane has put an end to his public feud with Governor Ali Korane.

Just three weeks ago, Dagane had accused Korane of running the county in isolation and locking him out of key decisions. However, in a surprising turn of events, Dagane welcomed Korane during a prayer meeting in Hulugho, marking the beginning of the end of their differences.

According to sources, local leaders, including the senator, brokered a deal between the two, bringing an end to their public spat. The genesis of their differences was said to be the appointment of Dagane's opponents to Korane's administration.

Speaking in Garissa town, Dagane said having differences in any working place was common, and he was ready to work with Korane to deliver on their promises. He added that squabbles between the two were now history.

“As a principal assistant and the most senior county official from the Samawadal community, I would not bargain with anybody for the rights of my people and the programmes that they are entitled to,” Dagane wrote on Facebook in his initial statement.
