On February 28, 2022, the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) began training small-scale tea farmers in Kisii County on quality tea production and crop diversification.
The economic empowerment program aims to support groups of 500 tea farmers in the Nyamache Tea catchment area, equipping them with skills to improve their livelihoods.
KTDA Foundation Chief Executive Officer Sudi Matara emphasized that the training will cover various value chains, including poultry farming, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, and other ventures to enhance farmers' resilience.
County Executive Committee member for Agriculture Esman Onsarigo noted that the training will provide farmers with financial skills, enabling them to save their incomes and improve their economic stability.
