On July 11, 2019, the Labour Court in Nairobi ordered former Kenya Airways CEO Titus Naikuni to pay Sh 10 million to a former corporate manager, Kepha Bosire, for humiliating him in 2013.
The court found that Naikuni used his position as a CEO to humiliate Bosire at a Marathon dance dinner in 2013.
Naikuni was ordered to pay Bosire Sh1.8 million for three months' salary in lieu of notice, Sh 7.2 million for unfair sacking, and Sh1 million for compensation for undignified treatment.
According to the court, Naikuni's actions went outside his role as CEO and subjected Bosire to undignified treatment.
Bosire alleged that Naikuni stripped him of an Arsenal team T-shirt labelled Fly Emirates at a marathon event organised by KQ at Lemek Conservancy.
Naikuni defended himself, saying that Bosire ought to have worn an attire promoting KQ and not its rivals.
However, the court did not believe him, noting that he had overstepped his mandate as a CEO.
