Mbwana Samatta: Tanzanian Football Sensation in High Demand ¶
Published on July 11, 2019, Mbwana Samatta, the captain of the Tanzania national football team, has caught the attention of several top English Premier League clubs.
Samatta, who plays for KRC Genk, has been linked with Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion, Watford, Leicester City, and Burnley, all of whom are reportedly interested in signing him this summer.
At just 26 years old, Samatta has already made a name for himself in European football, scoring 25 goals for Genk last season and helping the team win the Belgian Pro League.
His impressive form has also earned him individual recognition, including the Ebony Shoe award in Belgium for his outstanding season with Genk.
Samatta's abilities have been on full display in the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he scored a brilliant goal against Harambee Stars and provided a sublime assist in their 3-2 defeat by Kenya.
With his contract set to expire on June 30, 2021, Samatta is likely to be in high demand in the transfer market, and it remains to be seen which club will ultimately secure his services.
