On July 11, 2019, Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia confirmed the departure of seven players from the club ahead of the new season.
The biggest names on the list include Jacques Tuyisenge, who transferred to Angola's Petro Atletico, and Francis Kahata, who signed for Simba SC. Other players who have left the club include goalkeeper Shaban Odhoji, Ugandan striker Erisa Ssekisambu, defender Pascal Ogweno, and midfielder Cercidy Okeyo.
These players were all omitted from Gor's squad that travelled to Rwanda for the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup.
At the same time, 11-time KPL champions Tusker FC are focusing on strengthening their attacking department as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Tusker FC, who began their pre-season training last week, are hoping to fight for the title after finishing fourth last term.
Tusker FC coach Robert Matano stated, 'We are trying to see some new players and the progress is good. We will maintain the team but we will have to add about four or five players especially in the strike force.'
Matano further noted that the club will promote some players from the academy, having already assessed seven of them during the ongoing training.
He expressed interest in including two or three of them in the senior team, saying, 'I am hoping they will take the opportunity series.'
The Brewers will plan some local and international friendlies before the start of the new season and will face the defending champions Gor Mahia in the opening fixture.
