On Thursday, Amos Otieno Ochuka appeared in a Nairobi court, facing three counts of giving false information to a police officer.
According to court documents, Ochuka made false claims about Michael Diang'a, a chief investigator in the Internal Affairs Unit, stating that Diang'a was interfering with an assault case reported in Nyakach.
Ochuka further alleged that Diang'a instructed the Pap Onditi OCS not to take any action against the area chief Alloy Okoth, information that he knew to be false.
He claimed that his intention was to have administrative action taken against the investigator.
However, court papers indicate that Ochuka had previously recorded a statement with the John Otibine, a senior superintendent of police (SSP), in August last year, making similar false claims.
Additionally, Ochuka is alleged to have informed Mr. Otibine that the investigator leaked secret information to a former journalist from the Nation Media Group, knowing that the information was false.
Ochuka denied all the charges and was released on Ksh. 200,000 cash bail.
His case will be heard on August 15.
