Manchester United's Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Defends Paul Pogba Amid Transfer Rumors ¶
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come out in defense of midfielder Paul Pogba, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford. Pogba's agent Mino Raiola recently stated that the 26-year-old wants to leave the club, but Solskjaer claims there is an agenda against the Frenchman.
According to Solskjaer, Pogba is a 'great, great professional' who has 'a heart of gold.' He also stated that Pogba has never put himself out of the team and has always given his best. Solskjaer's comments come after Raiola told Times that everyone, including Solskjaer and the Glazer family, knew of Pogba's plans to exit Old Trafford as soon as possible.
Manchester United are currently in Perth, Australia as part of their pre-season tour of Australia, Singapore and China ahead of next season's Premier League campaign. Pogba has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Juventus, but Solskjaer claims that the club will not be intimidated into selling or overpaying for players.
"We're Manchester United, we don't need to sell and don't have to overpay," Solskjaer said. "You have to have the right players at the right price and if you look at the squad we've got now, they are so many good players."
Pogba had a successful season last year, scoring 13 goals and providing nine assists for Manchester United. He also had the most shots on target (50) and most chances created (55) for the club.
