On Thursday, July 11, 2019, a dramatic scene unfolded at City Hall in Nairobi, Kenya, as a middle-aged man chained himself to the grills at the entrance of the county headquarters.
The man, dressed in a red shirt and grey trousers, had chained himself along his neck and waist before locking it up to the grills of City Hall fence.
According to a Facebook post by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, the man allegedly threatened to kill himself if he could not see President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"Whoever is near city hall, this guy here says if he can't see President Uhuru right away he will commit suicide. One word for him," said Sonko.
The man had red placards with writings saying he wanted to see the president, and he claimed to be an adamant supporter of the Jubilee government.
Efforts to contact him over his motive for staging such a dramatic bold move were futile as he refused to talk to the media citing an unfavorable noisy environment to communicate.
