On February 11, 2022, Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti announced a cabinet reshuffle to fill positions left vacant after several officials resigned to contest elective posts in the upcoming General Election.
County Secretary and Head of Civil Service, Isaiah Ogwe, had resigned to vie for the Homa Bay Governor's seat, while Energy Executive Beatrice Ogola quit to seek the Homa Bay Woman Representative post.
As a result, Governor Awiti and his Deputy Hamilton Orata filled the vacancies, stating that the changes would take effect immediately.
Key appointments included Water and Environment Chief Officer Donald Ogweno as the acting County Secretary, Trade Executive David Okeyo as the new Energy boss, and Chief of Staff Eliud Otieno as the acting Transport Executive.
Chief of Protocol John Apollo was promoted to Chief of Staff, and Agriculture Executive Aguko Juma was transferred to the Trade and Industrialization docket.
Education Executive Beatrice Asyago took over as the new Agriculture Minister.
