Published on July 10, 2019, the Canadian government has issued a record 41,800 invitations to apply for permanent residency through the Express Entry program in the first half of 2019.

The Express Entry system is the primary source of skilled foreign workers for Canada, ranking eligible candidates based on a Comprehensive Ranking (CRS) score system.

Applicants are ranked based on factors such as age, education level, skills level, occupation, English or French proficiency, and family ties to Canada, with a minimum score set for each draw.

Candidates who receive invitations to apply have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residency, a crucial step towards moving to or remaining in Canada as a permanent resident.

Those who apply for Express Entry remain in the selection pool for 12 months, during which they can continue to improve their score by gaining relevant work experience, improving education level, or improving language proficiency.

For the fiscal year 2018, a total of 92,000 candidates and their families were admitted to Canada as permanent residents through the Express Entry program, with a target of 81,400 invitations to apply set for 2019.
