On July 10, 2019, Senegal's Lions of Teranga secured a 1-0 victory over Benin in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals, marking a significant milestone in their continental campaign.

Idrissa Gueye's 68th-minute strike, assisted by Sadio Mane, proved to be the decisive moment in the match, as Senegal edged out their opponents to reach the semi-finals.

Benin, who had earlier stunned Morocco with a 4-1 penalty shootout victory, had been tipped to cause an upset against Senegal. However, the Squirrels of Benin were ultimately unable to overcome the might of Aliou Cisse's team.

Senegal's path to the semi-finals will now see them face the winner of the Nigeria-South Africa clash, with the stakes set to be high in the upcoming match.
