The Senate resumed its sittings on Tuesday afternoon, marking the end of the Christmas break.
Recalled from recess in December 2021 to debate the Political Parties Amendment Act 2021, the Senate had passed the bill before adjourning for the holiday season.
On Tuesday, the Senators were expected to approve members for the Senate Business Committee, the only item on the order paper.
Seven Senators have been nominated to sit in the Committee, which prepares the Senate Calendar with the approval of the Senate.
The nominated Senators include Fatuma Dullo (Isiolo), Stewart Madzayo (Kilifi), Beatrice Kwamboka (Nominated), Gideon Moi (Baringo), Johnson Sakaja (Nairobi), Charles Kibiru (Kirinyaga), and Ledama Olekina (Narok).
The Senate Business Committee is chaired by Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka, with other members being Majority Leader Samuel Poghisio (West Pokot), Minority Leader James Orengo (Siaya), Majority Whip Kimani Wamatangi, and Minority Whip Mutula Kilonzo Junior (Makueni).
