Patrick Nderitu, owner of Pimp My Ride car wash, has taken legal action to prevent the demolition of his business by the Nairobi County Government.

On July 2, Nairobi County served Nderitu with a seven-day notice, claiming that he was carrying out illegal construction on the junction of Kenyatta Avenue and Muindi Mbingu Street.

Nderitu fears that the notice is a ploy to gain access to his premises after the notice expires on July 9.

He claims to be in lawful possession of the property, citing a lease agreement.

On July 10, the court declined to issue orders stopping the planned demolition but directed Nairobi County to wait for the determination of the suit.

The matter was certified as urgent and will be heard on July 11.

The car wash, located on a controversial piece of land, was previously demolished in May despite the manager insisting that no notice of eviction or court order had been served.
