Kenya's Football Federation (FKF) has made it clear that Harambee Stars coach Sebastian Migne will not be relieved of his duties despite the team's underwhelming campaign in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
FKF president Nick Mwendwa has stated that Migne will remain the team's head coach, citing the Frenchman's achievement of qualifying Kenya for the continental tournament after a 15-year absence.
"We have confidence in Migne; he brought back Harambee Stars to the continental football map after 15 years, which is not a meagre achievement," Mwendwa told Citizen Digital.
He added, "Besides, he showed we can compete against top African teams, evidenced by beating Ghana at home during the qualifiers although in the AFCON the game was different all together."
Kenya's Harambee Stars failed to progress beyond the group stages, collecting a single win against Tanzania to finish third in Group C behind Senegal and Algeria.
Other coaches who have lost their jobs following the tournament include Egypt's Javier Aguirre, Tanzania's Emmanuel Amunike, and Uganda's Sebastien Desabre.
