On February 2, 2022, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga held an Azimio la Umoja rally in Kajiado to drum up support for the Maa community ahead of the 2022 polls.
The rally was attended by several leaders from the Maa community, including Governor Ole Lenku, Narok senator Ledama Olekina, Narok West legislator Ole Kenta, and Environment Cabinet Secretary Keraiko Tobiko, who have all declared their support for Raila's presidential bid.
Meanwhile, Kenya Kwanza, a rival political party, held a counter-event in Naivasha, Nakuru County, with Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula leading the charge.
The Kenya Kwanza team made stopovers at Naivasha Town, Karagita, and Kamere areas, as part of their campaign-trail.
