On July 10, 2019, MKU researcher Donatus Njoroge made history by winning the biologically based pest control technologies award at the International conference on Agro-ecology Transforming Agriculture and Food systems in Africa.

The conference, organized by the World Food Preservation Center, IFOAM Organics International, Biovision Africa Trust, and other partners, brought together experts from around the world to discuss sustainable agriculture practices.

Njoroge's achievement is a testament to his dedication to using innovation to drive social and economic change. His work has not gone unnoticed, as he was recently appointed to a hackathon team contributing to policy formulation for SMEs by the PS Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Co-operatives.

Meanwhile, a team of 14 students from the University of Nairobi's School of Computing and Informatics took top honors in the Nairobi Innovation Week Hackathon, sponsored by KOTRA and UNICEF.
