On July 7, 2019, Kenya lost a football legend when Joe Kadenge passed away at a Nairobi hospital after a long battle with illness.
Regarded as one of the best players Kenya has ever produced, Kadenge played for Maragoli United and AFC Leopards during his illustrious career.
Siaya Senator James Orengo has now proposed that the historic Nyayo Stadium be renamed in Kadenge's honour, citing the need to recognize the footballer's contributions to the sport.
"At this time as we remember him (Joe Kadenge) it will be incumbent upon the Kenyan government that one of the national stadia should be named after Kadenge," the lawmaker argued.
Earlier, Kadenge was honoured with a moment of silence before the Cecafa Kagame Cup match pitting Bandari and Mukura Victory in Rwanda on July 9, 2019.
