July 10, 2019 - Naivas, Kenya's largest retail chain, has taken a significant step in its expansion plans with the opening of its 53rd outlet in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.
The new store, located next to the Barclays Bank branch in the fast-growing urban center, occupies 8,000 square feet of retail space and is designed to serve the burgeoning middle class market with fresh food.
According to Chief Commercial Officer Willy Kimani, Naivas has three types of outlets: hypermarkets, mini stores, and food markets. Each type is designed and located with specific target markets in mind, offering a range of products tailored to meet the needs of its customers.
Kimani noted that the mini store in Ongata Rongai is a new innovation that caters to urban centers seeking simple locations, speedy service, and value for money.
The new outlet is expected to create additional jobs, bringing the total number of people employed directly by Naivas to 6,500, and impacting at least 350,000 people indirectly.
