Kenya's women rugby team head coach Felix Oloo has named his final squad to face Uganda in the Elgon Cup second leg, set to take place on Saturday at Kyandondo Rugby Club in Kampala, Uganda.
Among the fresh faces set to make their debuts are Victoria Gichure from Northern Suburbs club and Winfred Maina of Stanbic Mwamba, who have received call-ups from Oloo.
Others in the squad include Resolution Impala Saracens trio Anne Njeri, Winnie Owino, and Diana Awino, who have been in top form at their clubs and are expected to replicate this with the national team.
Notably, Millicent Opala will also be part of the squad, marking her first appearance for the Lionesses since 2015.
The squad is dominated by players from Resolution Impala Saracens and Menengai Cream Homeboyz, with six and five players respectively making the cut. Grace Adhiambo of Top Fry Nakuru and Bernadette Oleisia of Shamas RFC have also been included in the squad.
Kenya's Lionesses were the stronger side in the first leg, defeating Uganda's Lady Cranes 44-13 on June 22 at Mamboleo Showgrounds in Kisumu. Captain Philadelphia Olando, who starred in the last game, will be leading the charge in search of another win.
The Saturday Elgon Cup games will also see the men's team, Simbas, play Uganda. Simba lost 13-16 to Uganda in the first leg.
