Published on January 25, 2022, a tropical storm has ravaged southern Africa, claiming the lives of at least 34 people in Madagascar and three more in Mozambique.
According to the authorities in Madagascar, the storm has left 65,000 people without a home, with parts of the capital, Antananarivo, being evacuated after flash floods destroyed hundreds of buildings.
Neighboring Mozambique has also been severely affected, with the storm destroying homes, schools, and clinics in central and northern regions. The United Nations estimates that up to 500,000 people could be affected in the country.
