On Monday, the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) witnessed a substantial surge in equity turnover, reaching KSh 450,390,042.00, a 39.57% increase from the previous week's turnover of KSh 322,704,536.
The volume of shares traded also saw a notable rise, reaching 11,796,500, up from 9,133,000 the previous week, while the number of equity deals increased to 1,054 from 845.
The benchmark NSE All Share Index declined by 0.53 points to 164.13, while the NSE 20 Share Index dropped by 6.06 points to close at 1,886.48. The NSE 25 Share Index shed 9.83 points to stand at 3,686.12.
Equity was the day's prime mover, with a volume of 5.69 million shares changing hands at between KSh 51.25 and KSh 52.00. Safaricom followed closely, with 3.48 million shares traded at between KSh 37.00 and 37.65.
Longhorn Publishers emerged as the top price gainer, rising 9.50% to KSh 4.38, followed by Flame Tree Group, which gained 8.94% to KSh 1.34.
On the other hand, Williamson Tea was the worst-performing counter, declining by 3.70% to KSh 130.
