Telkom Kenya has taken steps to apologize for the network outage that occurred on January 19-20, 2022, by offering free data bundles to its customers.

According to Telkom's chief executive officer, Mugo Kibati, the company will provide 200mb of free data to its customers, valid for one day. This is in addition to not billing customers for the period of the outage.

On January 19-20, 2022, Telkom customers in some parts of the country experienced disruptions to mobile voice and data services. In response, the company issued an apology and announced that it would not charge customers for the period of the outage.

‘I apologize for any inconvenience this service outage has caused our customers and assure them that we are working to restore services back to all areas as soon as possible,’ Kibati said.

With its low data packages and data efficiency, Telkom has emerged as one of the most preferred network providers in Kenya. The company currently offers a package that provides up to 180 GB for Sh. 2,000, a significant advantage over rival networks.
