Kenya Sevens kicked off the third leg of the 2021-2022 World Rugby Sevens Series on the wrong foot, losing their opening Group D matches against Canada (19-17) and Wales (19-14) on Friday.

Despite a remarkable comeback win against France, Shujaa finished third in their group with five points, failing to qualify for the Main Cup quarterfinals.

Trailing 15-0 at half time, Kenya Sevens powered their way back to win the match through Vincent Onyala's brace, Nelson Oyoo's touchdown, and Derrick Ashiundu's debut try.

Locally, Menengai Oilers extended their unbeaten run to seven matches in the Kenya Cup League, beating Strathmore Leos 19-7.

Meanwhile, Kabras Sugar hammered Kenya Harlequin 31-6, narrowing the gap on leaders Oilers to three points.

At KCB Sports Club, defending champions KCB thrashed MMUST 41-10, while Mwamba edged Homeboyz 21-7, Nakuru defeated Impala 29-27, and Blak Blad beat Nondescripts 20-10.
