Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has fired back at Deputy President William Ruto over his recent remarks about former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.

Speaking on January 21, Ngilu expressed her disappointment with Ruto's behavior, stating that he has a history of using offensive language against leaders in the regions he visits.

Ngilu cited two incidents: Ruto's defamatory comments about Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi during his tour of Meru County in November 2021, and his recent disparaging remarks about Kalonzo during his visit to Machakos on January 20.

"I would like to ask William Samoei Ruto to really desist from the vulgar language that he has been using against leaders," Ngilu said.

She also criticized Ruto for wasting time promoting his 'hustler' narrative in the Ukambani region, which she said is loyal to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.

Ngilu expressed confidence that the region will support Odinga's Azimio la Umoja movement, saying that the leaders from the region are now on the ground pushing for the coalition.

"And that is why as a community we say we are not going to miss out on the national government this time around. We will be part and parcel of the national government that is going to be formed by the next president of this country on the ninth of August 2022," she added.
