On Tuesday afternoon, a 9-year-old girl was allegedly defiled by a 60-year-old man inside a packed Public Transport Vehicle (PSV) in Kiganjo, Nyeri County.
The incident occurred as the girl was traveling with her grandmother and sister from Gachika to Kiganjo along the Nyeri-Nanyuki highway.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect offered to hold the child on his lap as the vehicle was already packed to capacity.
It is during the short drive that the man allegedly touched the minor inappropriately and groped her.
The girl collapsed when she alighted from the vehicle at Kiganjo, and the suspect was driven to Kiganjo Police Station where he was arrested.
As of the time of reporting, the suspect was being held at Kiganjo Police Station for questioning, awaiting a medical report and statements from other witnesses before he can go to court.
