January 14, 2022, marked the passing of Nani Njoroge Mungai, a respected lawyer who left an indelible mark in Kenya's legal fraternity.
Mungai, who was the founding partner of MMC Asafo, a former Chairman of Postal Corporation of Kenya, and Director of Kenya Development Corporation Limited (formerly ICDC), had a storied career spanning multiple roles.
He held a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma from Kenya School of Law, further honing his skills in the field of law.
As a seasoned advocate, Mungai represented several high-profile clients, including Supreme Court Justice Jackton Ojwang' in 2019, successfully helping him escape removal from the apex court.
His expertise also extended to representing Kiambu County MCAs at the Senate in their successful impeachment against former Governor Ferdinand Waititu in January 2020.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, in a statement, mourned Mungai as an accomplished lawyer whose service to the nation shall be dearly missed.
Several other notable figures, including Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata and Consumers Federation of Kenya (COFEK) Secretary-General Stephen Mutoro, also paid tribute to Mungai's remarkable life and legacy.
He is survived by his daughter Wanjiku Njoroge and three brothers; Willy Mungai, Robert Mirangi, and Joseph Kimani.
